The long-awaited sequel to the beloved Chinese animated feature The Legend of Hei has officially been scheduled for theatrical release in Japan on November 7, 2025, with both Japanese dubbed and subtitled versions available in cinemas.
Titled in Japanese as 羅小黒戦記2 ぼくらが望む未来 (The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Hope For), the story follows Xiao Hei, a cat spirit navigating a world where humans and supernatural beings coexist, gradually learning to understand human society through his adventures.
The Legend of Hei franchise began as a web animation series in 2011. Its first theatrical release grossed over ¥315 million RMB (approx. USD $44 million) in China.
